Therapists, parents and educators who are trained properly to use technology can give children more opportunities to communicate and while greatly reducing their own preparation time and overall work load.
The Accendo Initiative offers Assistive Technology Consulting Services to help parents, therapists, individuals and schools, select and use the available technologies designed to support students with complex communication needs (CCN). We do this by providing "hands on training" and speaking at awareness events across the country.
Founded on the fact that while 21st century technology enables these individuals to participate in society in ways that were never before possible, the training for individuals who educate and provide medical services lag far behind the reality of what this technology provides. Our mission is to provide awareness and hands-on practice in these exciting technologies to those that support and work with children with Complex Communcation Needs (CCN)

In September, The Accendo Initiative was designated an official RESOURCE CENTER for Proloque2Go. We are currently conducting field studies to best support new users and educate those who are interested in using this breakthrough technology. On a limited basis we will also provide software for testing. Formal programs will be rolled out in October.

As a parent/care giver you have many important responsibilities. Choosing who works with your child is one that is key to both the short term and long term success of your child. How do you choose wisely?
One factor is determining how the professional/educator sees your child's ability. We assert that they should approach the child with the Presumption of Competence. They will demonstrate this belief by searching for the answers, willingness to look for new ideas, accept others input and will suggest using others to help your child. These actions indicate they believe your child is capable and they have not yet come upon the right answers or require more time to be effective.
